ISO 3166-2 Country Subdivisions

This dataset provides ISO 3166-2–compatible identifiers for country subdivisions such as states, provinces, territories, and regions, compiled from open reference sources via the pycountry library.

It can be joined to the @blt.reference_countries dataset via country_code and is useful for standardising geographic fields and enriching datasets that contain region or state codes. Subdivision hierarchies and types vary by country and may not be strictly comparable across jurisdictions.
