ISO 3166-1 Countries

This dataset provides canonical ISO 3166-1–compatible identifiers for countries and territories, compiled from open reference sources via the pycountry library.

It serves as a foundational reference table for standardising geographic identifiers and enabling consistent joins across Baselight datasets (e.g. @cia.world_factbook, @geonames.geonames, @blt.calendar). The dataset includes sovereign states and dependent territories and is updated periodically to reflect upstream changes.

These reference identifiers help ensure consistent data normalisation and entity resolution across domains.
