About this Dataset

Physical Energy Flow Accounts: Supply By Activity

This database records the supply of physical energy flows measured in terajoules. It describes the supply of energy from natural inputs, energy products, and energy residuals by the economy and environment. The table below provides a general overview of the information contained within the supply table (SEEA Energy Table 2.1).

| Industries| Households| Changes in inventories| Imports| Environment| Total
---|---|---|---|---|---|---
Energy from natural inputs| | | | | Energy inputs from the environment| Total supply of energy from natural inputs
Energy products| Output| | | Imports| | Total supply of energy products
Energy residuals| Residuals generated by industry| Residuals generated by household consumption| Residuals from accumulation| Imported residuals| Residuals recovered from the environment| Total supply of energy residuals

The total supply of energy from natural inputs, products, and residuals is equal to the sum of supply from the environment, domestic industries and households, imports, and changes in inventories.

The International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities (ISIC) is used to delineate activities from industries and households. The data are compiled in line with the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA) Central Framework. Data reported by the relevant national statistical authorities are available on an annual basis. Data for European countries are collected by Eurostat.
