KIDS COUNT Data Center - Annie E. Casey Foundation

Definition

Disparity in the percent of White and Hispanic students is rated as fully ready for kindergarten in the domains of "language and literacy" and "mathematical thinking" (average) on the Maryland Model for School Readiness kindergarten assessment for the school year ending in that year.

For example, a value of 15 means that there is a 15% point gap between the percent of ready White students and the percent of ready Hispanic students. A positive number indicates that a higher percentage of White students than Hispanic students are fully ready for kindergarten.

Large numbers indicates a greater disparity.
