Dataset Description
The Skills and Competencies Taxonomy (SCT) streamlines the terminology of hundreds of occupational descriptors used in the labour market. Each descriptor is associated with one of the seven categories (skills, abilities, personal attributes, knowledge, interests, work context and work activities), which are then further divided into sub-categories.
The SCT is one of the two pillars of the Occupational and Skills Information System (OaSIS), which provides measurement indicators for most descriptors in the Taxonomy across more than 900 occupations.
The 2023 version of the SCT introduces updates and improvements to labels and descriptors. Errors were corrected and syntax was refined. Three descriptors were reinstated, and two new descriptors were added under the categories of Abilities and Work Activities. Additionally, the information derived from the Holland Codes, which forms the basis of the Interests category, was modified to better align the SCT with the OaSIS framework. “Foundational Knowledge” was created under Knowledge category as a new subcategory, and Languages and Mathematics descriptors were moved under this new subcategory.
