Dataset Description
Since the beginning of the 1990s, several municipalities in Quebec have regulated the use of pesticides on their territory.
Such municipal by-laws do not have to be approved by the Minister of the Environment, Climate Change, Wildlife and Parks prior to their adoption. However, municipalities must ensure that the regulatory provisions they apply are not incompatible with Quebec pesticide regulations. When compliance with municipal by-laws results in non-compliance with applicable Quebec regulations, the latter prevails (Pesticides Act, section 102).
Municipalities are not required to inform the Ministry of the existence and scope of such regulations. For this reason, this list is not exhaustive.
This list indicates the municipalities that regulate the use of pesticides on their territory, as well as the administrative region and the regional county municipality for each of them.
