Dataset Description
TEU Throughput tracks the actual volume of container traffic moving through U.S. gateways. While "capacity" measures the potential slots available on ships, "throughput" measures the realized trade—the boxes moved on and off the vessels.
From January 2020 to August 2023, U.S. ports experienced a historic "mountain" of volume, peaking in mid-2022 before a managed descent back to pre-pandemic norms by late 2023.
