This metric represents the "queue" or "waiting room" for U.S. trade. The Weekly Number of Container Ships Awaiting to Dock is a primary indicator of supply chain health and port congestion.
From July 2021 to September 2023, the U.S. experienced a dramatic arc: moving from historic backlogs that gripped the global economy to a near-total clearing of the queues by late 2023.
