Dataset Description

City of Seattle Comprehensive Plan Future Land Use Map (FLUM). The FLUM is a requirement of the Washington State Growth Management Act and is intended to show the desired scale and use of buildings for different parts of Seattle.

This map provides guidance that is used in developing and updating more detailed zoning maps and development standards which regulate the size, use, and design for new development. As such, the FLUM and policies in the Growth Strategy element of the Comprehensive Plan complement and are integral to goals and policies in the Land Use element.

Future land use is intended to illustrate the general location and distribution of the various categories of land uses anticipated by the Comprehensive Plan policies over the life of this plan.

This layer includes various center place types designated for growth which may include areas that extend over the water from the shoreline intended to be able to identify designations for overwater parcels, structures and addresses.

Please see the Center Boundaries 2044 layer for the boundaries of the designated growth centers place types.

This map may be amended annually as part of the regular comprehensive plan update process.
