This dataset provides statistics on employment rates by level of education in large regions (TL2).

Data definition and source

Employment rate is measured by the number of persons employed aged 25 to 64 and 25-34 year-olds over the population of the respective age, broken down education level. The education level is defined as the highest grade completed within the most advanced level attended in the educational system of the country where the education was received. Educational attainments are internationally standardised with the ISCED-2011 classification: ISCED 0-2 (elementary), 3-4 (secondary), 5-8 (tertiary).

Data are collected from Eurostat (reg_educ) for EU countries, and through delegates of the OECD Working Party on Territorial Indicators (WPTI) and the OECD Working Party on Education System Indicators (INES).

Definition of regions

Regions are subnational units below national boundaries. OECD countries have two regional levels: large regions (territorial level 2 or TL2) and small regions (territorial level 3 or TL3).
