KIDS COUNT Data Center - Annie E. Casey Foundation

Definition

Unduplicated number of children younger than age 18 by race who were brought to juvenile court for delinquent, status or unruly charges during a given calendar year. Rate is per 1,000 of same age population at each race category.

Data Source

Referral counts data were collected from the annual report published at the website by the Tennessee Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (TCJFCJ). Population data were derived from population profile (county comparison) of the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP).

Notes

About 10 to 12 percent of children younger than age 18 who were brought to juvenile court belong to races characterized by mixed, other or unknown categories.

Sullivan County includes Sullivan Divisions I and II, along with Bristol. Washington County data include Johnson City Courts data.
