Definition

Percentage of Mississippi population by county receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. Persons are eligible for participation in SNAP (formerly known as the food stamp program) if they meet certain resource and income tests. More detailed information about eligibility can be found at the United States Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Service. These figures are based on five-year estimates from the American Community Survey.
