Definition

(Number) of infant deaths (less than one year old).

(Rate-D.C.) Number of infant deaths (less than one year old) per every 1,000 live births in D.C.

(Rate-Ward) Number of infant deaths (less than one year old) in ward per every 1,000 live births in the ward.

Data Source

2014 Infant Mortality Report, Published March 2016 and its predecessor reports. Vital Records Data from 2015 and later were provided by the Data Management and Analysis Division, Center for Policy, Planning, and Evaluation, at DC Department of Health upon request.

Notes

Due to the small number of infant deaths, infant mortality rates are highly variable and should be interpreted cautiously.
