Definition

Monthly average number of Tennessee residents who received food coupons under Supplemental Assistance Program (SNAP) during any given year. Rate is the percentage of total population. Estimates are based on state fiscal year (July- June).

Data Source

SNAP data were supplied by the Tennessee Department of Human Services. Population data were collected from the Division of Population Health Assessment, Tennessee Department of Health. The KIDS COUNT division of the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth organized data and calculated rates.

*The Tennessee Department of Human Services submitted corrected counts for 2001 and 2002. Corrected values for 2001 and 2002 are shown, effective March 29, 2005.
