Definition

The monthly average number and percent of children under age 18 who received financial support from the state's Families First program through Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) funds. Estimates are based on a state fiscal year (July - June).

Data Source

The Tennessee Department of Human Services provided Families First figures. Population data were collected from the Division of Population Health Assessment, Tennessee Department of Health. The KIDS COUNT division of the Tennessee Commission of Children and Youth organized data and calculated rates.
