Definition

Number and percent of public school students studying in K to 12th grade, who receive special educational services. Children with giftedness and functional delay are excluded. Rate is percentage of net enrollment (1st. Month Membership).

Data Source

Data on the number of students (counts) are provided by the Tennessee Department of Education, Special Education Services. Enrollment data are from Department's Annual Report. The KIDS COUNT division of the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth converted district-level data to county level and computed rate.

Notes

State special schools are not included.
