Definition

Number and percentage of students suspended (out of school) in a given school year. Rate is based on net enrollment (1st month membership).

Data Source

Tennessee Department of Education published school suspensions and enrollment data in its Annual Report. The KIDS COUNT division of the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth converted district-level data to county-level and computed rates.

Notes

From 2012-13 suspensions data are compiled from data discipline profile posted on Department of Education website.

State special schools are not included in county data.

Tennessee State Board of Education data are included in Shelby county.

• Data are suppressed either due to student count less than 10 or percentage less than 1%.
