This indicator represents the unduplicated count of children age birth through 18 who are recipients of SNAP. The Farm Bill passed in 2008 renamed the Food Stamp Program as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). is a uniform, nationwide entitlement program to supplement the nutritional needs of people whose income is at or below 130 percent of the federal poverty level.
The denominator for the percentage is the total child population age birth through 18 in respective geographic areas.
