KIDS COUNT Data Center - Annie E. Casey Foundation

Definition

Event drop-out rate is the number of students in grades 7 through 12 who leave school between the beginning of one school year and the beginning of the next without earning a high school diploma or alternative credential.

Data Source

North Dakota Department of Public Instruction

Notes

NA - Data is suppressed if the number of students in the 7th through 12th grade cohort (denominator) is less than 25 (prior to 2023/24 suppression was set at N<10). Additional suppression is applied if the percentage approached zero or 100 using ranges.

GEOGRAPHY - Data reflect the school location, not the child's place of residence.

NOTE - Data shown in table only includes public schools in North Dakota.

**Starting in the 2019/20 school year, a change in method led to greater accuracy and inclusion of dropouts that had previously been considered too ambiguous to count. Caution is recommended when comparing 2019/20 data to previous years.
