Carnival 2017 Revenue

Corporation & plc (CCL) reported a record full year revenue of $21.6 billion in 2023, according to a December 21, 2023 press release. This is an all-time high for the company.

In 2019, Carnival's revenue was just under $21 billion. The health crisis caused a sharp decline in revenue, but in 2023, Carnival's revenue has grown to an all-time high.

Carnival Corporation & plc's global revenue bounced back in 2023, recovering from the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. After reaching just under 21 billion U.S. dollars in 2019, the company's revenue worldwide declined sharply with the onset of the health crisis, then grew to nearly 21.6 billion U.S. dollars in 2023, the highest figure recorded over the period considered.

Revenue of global leading cruise companies
Together with Carnival Corporation & plc, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd are among the global leading cruise companies, all of which are based primarily in the United States. In terms of revenue, Carnival Corporation & plc remains the leading cruise company worldwide, despite major setbacks as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, Royal Caribbean’s worldwide revenue totaled just above 1.5 billion U.S. dollars. Meanwhile, global revenue of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings amounted to a third of Carnival’s earnings that same year.

The Caribbean: cruise industry hotspot
For cruise companies like Carnival, the Caribbean has long been a favorite cruise destination, with its clear, tropical waters and many islands for passengers to visit. Among global destinations for cruises in recent years, the Caribbean, Bahamas, and Bermuda topped the list in 2021, despite a dramatic decline in cruise travel during the COVID-19 pandemic. Cruise traffic in the Caribbean covers a wide area, from the Bahamas off the coast of Florida to the island of Cozumel off Mexico, to islands like Aruba and Grenada near South America. In the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bahamas recorded the highest number of cruise passenger arrivals in the Caribbean, with the Mexican island of Cozumel following in the ranking.
