This dataset represents weekly respiratory pathogens and vaccination data for nursing home residents, as they were reported to CDC’s National Health Safety Network (NHSN). The data are aggregated to national and state/territory levels. As of September 30, 2024, the NHSN Weekly Respiratory Pathogens and Vaccination Module was implemented to allow nursing homes to submit weekly cases, hospitalizations, and vaccination data for respiratory pathogens (COVID-19, influenza, and respiratory syncytial [RSV]) on a single data collection form. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) required the submission of COVID-19 data beginning September 30, 2024, concurrently nursing homes were permitted to voluntarily submit influenza and RSV data. Beginning January 1, 2025, CMS requires nursing homes to report weekly data for all three respiratory pathogens among residents. Data included in this dataset represent aggregated counts capturing information specific to cases, hospitalizations, and vaccination for COVID-19, influenza, and RSV among residents during a given week of data collection.
