COVID-19, IIJA, and emergency appropriations tracking
Dataset Description
Emergency and disaster funding data from USAspending.gov, tracking spending for major events like COVID-19, Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), and other disaster/emergency appropriations identified by Disaster Emergency Fund Codes (DEFC).
This dataset provides comprehensive tracking of how emergency and disaster funds are allocated and spent across:
- Government agencies
- Federal accounts
- Recipients (contractors, grant recipients, etc.)
- Geographic locations (states, counties, congressional districts)
Data includes both obligations (funds committed) and outlays (actual payments). DEFC codes identify the specific emergency or disaster appropriation, such as:
- L, M, N, O, P: COVID-19 pandemic relief
- 1: Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act
- Various codes for natural disasters, wildfires, and other emergencies
