This dataset includes the average monthly assistance units and recipients of assistance from the Department of Social Services (DSS) by town for State Fiscal Years 2003-2014. A case , also known as an assistance unit , consists of one or more individuals who apply for or receive assistance together under one of the programs of the Department of Social Services (DSS). A recipient is an individual that receives assistance under one or a number of programs of DSS. About this data
