Dataset Description

These datasets contain emergency department visit rates for non-traumatic dental conditions as well as dentists and other oral health professionals who treat these conditions per county. Rates are displayed per 100,000 population. Higher emergency department visit rates for non-traumatic dental conditions may indicate a need for greater access to quality outpatient dental care. Lower dentist supply rates and oral health professional supply rates may indicate a greater need for oral health professionals in the area. Funding sources by condition are shown as percentages of dental-related emergency department visits. Counties are also grouped according to the Office of Health Workforce Development (OHWD) regions. See the diagnosis group to dentist and oral health professional list below to see which specialists would be needed to prevent/and or treat each dental-related diagnosis group.
