A. SUMMARY The Index to Records lists records City and County of San Francisco officials and departments keep and the length of time these records must be kept. You can find out more about the Index to Records on sf.gov. B. HOW THE DATASET IS CREATED The records retention schedules are determined by each department and then provided to City Administrator's Office on a regular basis. The dataset is then manually combined and uploaded to the open data portal. C. UPDATE PROCESS As departments update their record retention schedules, this dataset will be manually updated. D. HOW TO USE THIS DATASET To see record retention schedules for a particular department, make sure to filter using the "department" field.
