Pedestrian space added is former roadway that has been repurposed to accommodate pedestrians and to be free of vehicles. Pedestrian space can be constructed in concrete or demarcated by colored paint. Typical pedestrian spaces added include pedestrian refuge islands, medians or median extensions, plazas, sidewalk extensions, and neckdowns.
