About this Dataset

CAL FIRE Emergency Notices Historical TA83

Combined recent and historical Notices of Emergency (EMs) Timber Operations accepted by the California Department of Forestry & Fire Protection under the requirements of PRC §4592 and 14 CCR §§ 1052-1052.5 permitting the removal of timber on an emergency basis. Data from 2014 to present, but primarily from 2015 onwards.

The California Forest Practice Rules define emergencies as "conditions that will cause waste or loss of timber resources to the timber owner that may be minimized by immediate harvesting of infected, infested, or damaged timber or salvaging down timber", or other conditions causing economic loss. Emergency notices are valid for one year after being accepted by the department.

This data set is in the California Teale Albers NAD83 meters projection (TA83).
