Probes

The multiparameter sonde has been deployed on a buoy by NIEA’s Freshwater Monitoring and Assessment Team as part of long term, high frequency water quality monitoring project. It records water temperature (°C), Dissolved Oxygen (% saturation), Phycocyanin (RFU), Turbidity (NTU) and Specific Conductivity (µS/cm) near the bathing water site at Rea’s Wood, Antrim.

Data is recorded every 30 minutes and uploaded to the Lough Neagh water quality platform with a short delay.

**Please note: **Data is non-validated and should therefore be treated as provisional and may be subject to revisions. Many factors can affect the reliability of real time data, including environmental changes and sensor malfunction.

The logger collects measurements as follows.

• Temperature range is -5 to +50 degrees C with an accuracy of +/- 0.1 degrees C.
• Dissolved Oxygen range is 0 to 60mg/L saturation with an accuracy of +/- 0.1mg/L, or 2% of reading.
• Conductivity range 0 to 350,000 μS/cm, with an accuracy ±0.5% of reading plus 1 μS/cm from 0 to 100,000 μS/cm; ±1.0% of reading from 100,000 to 200,000 μS/cm;±2.0% of reading from 200,000 to 350,000 μS/cm.
• Turbidity range is 0-4,000NTU with an accuracy of +/- 2% of reading or +/- 0.5 NTU, whichever is greater.
• Phycocyanin detection range is 0-100 RFU, no error range is provided by In-Situ Aquatroll.

**Maintenance: **Probe maintenance occurs every 4-6 weeks.
