Dataset Description
The SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) and STTR (Small Business Technology Transfer) programs are highly competitive programs that encourage domestic small businesses to engage in Federal Research/Research and Development (R/R&D) that has the potential for commercialization.
Through a competitive awards-based program, SBIR and STTR enable small businesses to explore their technological potential and provide the incentive to profit from its commercialization.
This dataset contains comprehensive information about all SBIR/STTR awards granted by participating federal agencies. The data spans multiple agencies including NSF, NIH, DOD, DOE, NASA, and others.
Key Information:
- Award Details: Contract numbers, tracking numbers, award amounts, award year, and phase information
- Company Information: Recipient company name, address, website, UEI, DUNS, employee count, and demographic certifications (HUBZone, woman-owned, socially/economically disadvantaged)
- Project Information: Award titles and abstracts describing the research
- Agency Information: Awarding agency, branch, program type (SBIR/STTR)
- Solicitation Details: Solicitation number, year, topic code, and related dates
- Timeline: Proposal award date, contract end date, solicitation close date, proposal receipt date, and notification date
- Contact Information: Primary contact and Principal Investigator details (name, title, phone, email)
- Research Institution: Institution information for STTR awards (name and point of contact)
