@pjsousa.nipah_virus_outbreaks
This dataset contains annual time-series data on Nipah virus outbreaks in Bangladesh between 2001 and 2024, enriched with demographic and environmental variables relevant for epidemiological analysis.
For each year, the dataset reports the number of infected cases and deaths, alongside climate indicators such as maximum and minimum temperature, rainfall, humidity, and dry-bulb temperature, as well as population metrics including urban and rural population counts and population density. These variables enable the study of temporal trends and correlations between environmental conditions, population dynamics, and Nipah virus transmission.
The data supports trend analysis, correlation studies, and exploratory modeling, particularly in understanding how rural versus urban population changes and climate factors may influence outbreak patterns. While the dataset provides valuable historical coverage, it does not include healthcare capacity, socio-economic indicators, or policy variables, which may also affect transmission dynamics.
The dataset is compiled from publicly available sources and structured for analytical use.
