Country Pair Distances And Borders

This dataset contains pairwise relationships between countries, including shared border lengths, geographic proximity, and neighboring country populations.

All scores are normalized so they sum to 1 for each country, making them directly comparable across countries of different sizes.

Border detection uses geoBoundaries CGAZ administrative boundaries at the ADM0 (sovereign state) level. Island nations and countries without land borders have a border score of 0 for all other countries but still have valid distance-based scores.
