This indicator measures the strictness of activity-related eligibility criteria for recipients of unemployment and related benefits. It considers (1) the strictness of job-search and monitoring procedures, (2) the strictness of work-availability requirements and suitable job criteria, and (3) the strictness of sanctions for those not complaying with the requirements. The data include information for first and lower tier benefits. The list of programmes and their classification into first and lower tier benefits is available in the project webpage (https://oe.cd/taxben).
Calculations for families with children assume 2 children aged 4 and 6 who do not use formal childcare.
