Definition

Number of children under 18 living in households with single mothers within each race/ethnicity group.

Percent refers to percentage of all children within each race/ethnicity group residing in single mother households.

For example, in 2013 of all white children under 18 in Maryland, 17.4% resided in households with single mothers. The remaining percentage is occupied by children living in households with married couples and single fathers.
