Definition

"Single mothers" refers to female householders with no spouse present and one or more children under age 18 by birth, marriage, or adoption. "Single fathers" refers to male householders with no spouse present and one or more children under age 18 by birth, marriage, or adoption. Percentages represent single parents employed or in the Armed Forces among all single parents.
