Dataset Description

Definition

The number and percentage of New Mexico households receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly known as food stamps) benefits.

Data Source

US Census Bureau, American Community Survey, Table DP03.

New Mexico state-level data are 1-year estimates; county-level data are 5-year estimates.

Notes

New Mexico state-level data typically are from the American Community Survey 1-year estimates. As a result of COVID-19 data collection challenges, the 2020 New Mexico state-level data are 5-year estimates and not comparable to other years. 2020 data for NM counties are still comparable to other years.
