Definition

Percentage of all live births recorded as low birth weight (under 5. pounds or 2,500 grams) for women of all races and for the specified race category (i.e., White, Black, Hispanic, and All Other).

Notes

Depending on the county and the specific indicator, percentages and rates are sometimes computed using a small number of cases. Since measurement error is potentially higher when the number of events is small and the resulting rates/percentages are not as stable as those based on larger numbers, caution should be exercised in using data based on limited numbers.
