Notes

This background fact uses the number of 4-year-olds based on second month enrollment and a September 1 calculation date in the previous school year. This does not include children who entered at 5 years or 3-year-olds with special needs. The denominator is the estimate of the four-year-old population prepared by the U.S. Census Bureau.
