Definition

Number and percentage of students considered economically disadvantaged. Rate is the percentage of net enrollment. Economically disadvantaged data are based on a student's participation in one or more of the following federal/state-administered programs: the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP); the Transitional Assistance for Needy Families  (TANF); foster care program; homeless, migrant, and runaway. Economically disadvantaged students are eligible for free lunch.

Notes

The division of  School Nutrition no longer creates Free/reduce-price lunch participation data since 2019-20. The Economically disadvantaged students data series are similar type of dataset that covers limited subset of public schools students' population who qualify for free lunch.

Data on state special schools are not included.
