Organic Pig Producer Resilience
Farm Characteristics and Shock Responses
By [source]
About this dataset
This dataset provides valuable insights into the resilience capacities of organic pig producers in Austria, Denmark, Italy, Sweden and Switzerland. It features numerous characteristics such as breeding type, enterprise types, number of non-pig enterprises and structure that are essential measures to understand the shock response of these farmers. Not only this but outdoor areas and livestock standard units have also been captured to help assess the intensity of production systems on each farm. Additionally, data about self-sufficiency for each farm has been taken so users can compare it in different contexts across these European countries as well as utilizing agricultural area for pig production and utilized agricultural area for the whole farm. All this information will help draw valuable conclusions when assessing organic pig producers' resilience capacities in Europe

How to use the dataset
This dataset has been collected in the context of the organic core POWER project to assess the resilience capacities of organic pig producers in Austria, Denmark, Italy, Sweden and Switzerland. This guide is a helpful resource for understanding how to read and use this data set appropriately.
- The first step is to understand what type of information is included in this dataset and what it represents. The dataset includes information related to the farm characteristics such as breeding type, enteredprise types, number of non-pig enterprises, structure, outdoor areas, livestock standard units (LSU) used to compute the intensity of production, self-sufficiency level of the farm; utilized agricultural area for the pig production; utilized agricultural area of the farm (UAA total).
- Once you have an understanding what type of data is represented in this dataset , it's important too look at each individual column thoroughly . Pay close attention to titles as well as contents within them - each column will provide you with insight into your research by indicating different types associated with variations among farms such as outdoor areas or LSU used.
- Detailed descriptions should be provided when interpreting each column that includes qualitative variables such as so that readers may better understand how animals were raised within these unique environments which can cause variation among farms based upon breeders type or environment surrounding.
- Consider any correlations that could take place between disparate variables within your data set (i example consider how increased size might correlate with higher levels self-sufficiency markers)
5 Afterwards compare different statistics between countries so you can analyse any noticeable trends or similarities that emerge from various pieces aspects quantitative evidence gathered from our sample . Bear mind there possible existence outliers which make up small fraction our overall sample Thus these should be excluded from general inferences Which allow researchers make more valid than if all values taken into consideration
Research Ideas
- Assessing the sustainability of organic pig production in different European countries.
- Developing predictive models using mathematical, statistical or machine learning techniques on indicators collected such as LSU, outdoor areas, utilized agricultural area for pig production and self-sufficiency which could provide useful insights for farmers with regard to current or future resiliency strategies
