Context
The 2023 Indian Premier League (also known as TATA IPL 2023 for sponsorship reasons and sometimes referred to as IPL 2023 or IPL 16) is the ongoing 16th season of the Indian Premier League, a franchise Twenty20 cricket league in India. It is owned and operated by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The IPL 2023 Player auction will feature a total of 405 players who are set to go under the hammer in Kochi on 23d December. The initial list had over 991 cricketers who had registered for the auction. However, the final list was trimmed to 405. There will be a total of 87 slots spread across ten franchises up for grabs out of which 30 are slotted for overseas players. Among the 405 players, 273 are Indian players, 132 are overseas players.
