Sourced from TFRRS, this dataset contains the top 500 mens marks in all 21 events held at the outdoor NCAA championships for the year 2023. Data was cleaned to convert all times to "seconds.centiseconds" for machine usability, and all marks for throws/jumps are in meters.
Data Dictionary
Rank: The athlete's ranking position at the conclusion of the year in the event.
Athlete: Full name of the athlete.
Year: Numeric Year of eligibility for athlete with Freshman coded as 1 and Senior as 4.
Team: University Affiliation. For relays, Team is formatted as "University(B-Z)" to indicate it was the universities second (for B) fastest relay team that year.
Time: Duration taken by the athlete to complete the event, measured in seconds.
Meet: Name of the competition or meet.
Meet.Date: Date on which the meet took place.
high_altitude: Indicates if the event was held at high altitude.
Wind: Wind speed during the event, affecting track performances.
converted_from_mile: Shows if the 1500m time was converted from a mile time.
Athletes: Last names of athletes competing on relays.
Points: Combined total points for decathletes.
Mark: Metric measurement of distance or height achieved in field events in meters.
Conv: Imperial measurement of distance or height achieved in field events.
