Namma Metro has 63 operating metro stations as of March 2023, with 54 elevated stations, 8 underground stations, and 1 at-grade station.
The Namma Metro system's first section (on the Purple Line) opened on October 20, 2011 between Baiyappanahalli and M.G Road. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) operates the system.
Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi inaugurated a new purple line segment from KR Puram to Whitefield (13.71 km) with 12 new stations on 25 March 2023. After its completion, Namma Metro became India's second-longest metro system (69.6 kilometres), trailing only Delhi Metro.
