European Quality Of Government Index 2024

The European Quality of Government Index (EQI) captures average citizens’ perceptions and experiences with corruption, quality and impartiality of three essential public services – health, education and policing - in their region of residence. The index has been produced by the Quality of Government Institute at Gothenburg University for the European Commission since 2010.

The 2024 round of the EQI is also the largest survey ever undertaken to measure the perceptions and experience of EU citizens with quality of government. It collects the opinions of over 135,000 respondents in a total of 210 NUTS 1 and NUTS 2 regions in all Member States. Since the EQI builds on previous rounds of the survey (2010, 2013, 2017 and 2021) it also allows for systematic analysis of shifts over time and how both changes and inertia can be explained.
