Dataset Description

Municipal taxes represent the main source of revenue for the City of Montreal. They are composed of the general property tax, the water tax, the water pricing in certain sectors, the road tax, the tax relating to the contribution to the ARTM as well as the district taxes relating to services and investments. There are certain other taxes, applicable in particular according to the sector or the type of building.

This data set shows detailed taxation and pricing rates (or tax charges) by types of buildings: residential, non-residential and wasteland served or not.

Tax rates apply to the annual adjusted value, i.e. to the value on the property assessment roll combined with the spread measure of the change in value. In addition, in the case of mixed buildings, the portion of adjusted value used to apply non-residential rates varies according to the [class of the building] (http://ville.montreal.qc.ca/pls/portal/docs/PAGE/SERVICE_FIN_FR/MEDIA/DOCUMENTS/TABLEAU_DES_CLASSES_D%27IMMEUBLES_INTERNET_FR.PDF).

[The geographic boundaries] (/dataset/limites-administratives-agglomeration) to which the data refers are available on our open data portal, while those of sectors should follow soon.

Some features or exceptions may not have been included in this dataset. For details about where you live, please consult your [tax bill] (https://servicesenligne.ville.montreal.qc.ca/sel/ictl/recherche.do) online.
