Dataset Description

Radionuclides are elements that release energy called radiation. Radionuclides originate from both natural (e.g. soil and rock) and artificial (e.g. certain industrial, military and medical applications) sources (https://www.canada.ca/en/health-canada/services/health-risks-safety/radiation/types-sources/environmental.html). They are present at low levels in the environment and in food and drinking water. Health Canada’s Total Diet Study (TDS) program has monitored certain natural (40K and 210Pb ) and artificial (137Cs, 134Cs, 131I, 241Am, 57Co and 60Co) radionuclides in foods since 2000.
