Volume 7: My First Dashboard
Dashboards are finally live! This has been one of the most requested features from our users, and one that I am personally really excited about. And I couldn’t think of a better way to share the new “look-and-feel” of the Baselight experience than by sharing this letter as a full-fledged Baselight dashboard.
As an active user of Baselight myself, charts were a bit limiting. Charts are great for narrow insights, but they were lacking when I wanted to create a broader insight to tell “the story behind the data”. I worked around this by creating a set of charts that I then compiled into a blog post or a Twitter (X) thread, but this was a horrible UX and a lot of work (to the point that I stopped sharing these kinds of analyses and kept them for myself). But it wasn’t just me, a lot of users were asking for a similar feature.
So we decided to come up with a clear design for the feature before jumping right into its implementation as this was a huge endeavor (as you’ve probably read about in my previous letters). After sharing previews to some of our users and partners, the feedback was really positive across the board, so we had to build this ASAP!
And finally, here they are, Baselight dashboards are live! But dashboards are nothing without the underlying data to populate them, so let me use this update to also update you on what is the situation on this front using this dashboard!
