Activity Recognition In Different Study Spaces

This database identifies people's activities using various indoor study spaces within a modern university building. The data were collected during six days with the help of two participants using three different study spaces.

Study spaces were different in size, furniture, style, purpose of use, and number of maximum occupants. Attached Table 1 demonstrates the study spaces types.

From Table 1, study space (S1) is located in the middle of the building. It can occupy four students and is more equipped for short meetings, studying, and eating. It is located in a busy area, the space is near the building's main stairs and elevators.

Study space (S2) is bigger in space, and it’s located on the corner of the building. It can occupy ten students with one main desk and other two portable laptop desks, it has different chairs style, four normal chairs, and two sofas each one can occupy three students. It is not considered a quiet area as it has a drinking fountain, waste bins, and an entrance to one of the staff members office
in the same space area, and it faces another study space (S3).

Study space (S3) is the smaller study space in size, and it is located on the walking path, it has two sofas and a short desk. It is not considered a quiet area too, as it is located on the walking path, and it is near to a drinking fountain and printer that are placed on the walking path. It is also not completely equipped for studying as it does not has power sockets, TV, or whiteboard. It is more likely to be used for waiting or for light assignments.

Attached Figure 1 shows the floor plan of the building. The figure demonstrates the used areas on the floor, which are mostly allocated for PGR and staff members' offices, with a lecture theatre, labs, and other study spaces illustrated in the figure.

There are six files attached:
Use S1, S2, and S3 to recognize the activities in the three different study spaces.
Use P1 and P2 to recognize the activities happening by different participants.
Use All for the whole dataset.

The columns in the attached files (S1, S2, S3, P1, P2, and All) are from left to right:
Timestamp, Co2, humidity, light, passive infrared sensor (PIR sensor), pressure, proximity, sound, temperature, vibration, simple activity labeling, and complex activity labeling.
